All University of Pittsburgh investigators are required to complete COI training on appointment. Investigators who are externally funded, regardless of sponsor, must complete COI training within four years prior to commencing or engaging in any externally funded research activity and must renew their training at least every four years.
When funding is awarded, the PI must provide the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) with a completed CITI COI Training Table, which lists those who meet this definition and the date of completion of the CITI COI course.
It is the responsibility of the PI to maintain a copy of course completion certificates for all investigators and to update the list as personnel changes occur.

Users accessing the CITI system for the first time are strongly advised to review the instruction sheet above for important account creation steps. Failure to link and/or merge accounts will result in processing delays.
Proof of Completion
Upon completion of the training module(s), certificates of completion may be downloaded from the CITI "Main Menu" page. Additionally, investigators who link their CITI and HSConnect accounts will have their training histories automatically uploaded to their HSConnect profile, allowing OSP and the COI Office to automatically verify completion when necessary.
Optional CME/CEU Credits
There is no fee to complete the training module. Receipt of CME/CEU credit is not required to meet the University of Pittsburgh's COI training requirements.
If an investigator desires to receive CME/CEU credit for the training, he or she will need to pay the associated fees. Investigators clicking on the link for CME/CEU credit will be directed to the University of Miami website for additional information.
