Industry Relationships Policy

The Industry Relationships Policy (IRP) was jointly developed by the University Schools of the Health Sciences (SOHS) and UPMC. The entities have separate, but essentially the same, IRP documents. The IRP applies to faculty, staff, and students at the University SOHS and to UPMC employees.

The Industry Relationships Policy (IRP) applies to all faculty, staff and students in the University’s Schools of the Health Sciences and to UPMC employees.  It imposes requirements on these individuals and their interactions with Industry entities and their representatives. “Industry” includes all pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device and hospital equipment supply entities and their representatives.

The purpose of the IRP is to ensure that clinical decision making, educational, and research activities of the University SOHS and UPMC are free from influence created by improper financial relationships with, or gifts provided by, Industry.

The University IRP document is available here.
