A Covered University Official (CUO) is a senior University leader and includes:
- Chancellor, Senior Vice Chancellors, Vice Chancellors, Assistant and Associate Vice Chancellors
- Provost, Vice Provosts, Assistant and Associate Vice Provosts
- Presidents, Vice Presidents
- Deans, Vice Deans, Assistant and Associate Deans
- Department Chairs
Policy RI 11 references CUO external engagements, which are more commonly referred to as outside interests, activities, or relationships. The following external engagements of CUOs are considered Significant External Activities:
- External engagements with an entity through which more than $25,000 is earned in a 12-month period
- Fiduciary or other senior management roles in an external entity, such as President, CEO, CSO or a seat on the company’s board of directors
- Ownership interest in a privately-held entity, regardless of value
- Ownership interest in a publicly traded entity valued at more than $25,000
